In the center of Lihue, Kauai the St Michaels’s Church sits poised with spiritual promise. The triangular chapel floor plan provides a focused interior and a dramatic space for reflection and prayer. Sliding walls of glass open from opposite sides and high windows bring in shafts of light. Triangular concrete columns support the building, then step out from under the roof to spring skyward and frame a cross. The 2-story multi-purpose building surrounds the site creating a welcoming courtyard. Construction is primarly concrete block and copper roofs.
